There are certain foods in Muslim custom that are categorized under halal and haram food. Food that is permitted in Islamic guidelines fall under halal whereas food that they can not consume according to Qu'ran are called haram. Halal and Haram are Arabic words meaning permitted and prohibited respectively. Haram food includes pork, pork products, dead animals, blood, alcohol, carnivorous animals.

In a survey, it is estimated that alone in France five million Muslims are preferring halal foods and they generated about $430 million business in the month of Ramadan. Now more and more Muslims are preferring halal over non-halal products consequently boosting halal industry. Previously restaurants in China were selling non-halal products such as pork but now they are going according to Islamic law to attract Muslim businessmen. In North America, both domestic and foreign demand have gone up. In U.S, local grocery shops and eating joints are going for halal food products to serve their Muslim customers better and to respect their religious sentiments. There is increase in demand of Halal butchers in larger cities to meet increasing day to day demand.
Due to rise in demand of halal food, restaurants are improving quality of their food to better serve Muslims in tourism segment. Restaurants are improving them according to halal standards to get certified and to meet the Halal Food Services Standard for Tourism to attract Muslim tourist from Indonesia, India and Malaysia that have large Muslim population. Some largest supermarket chains are also offering halal meats.
Halal dishes are incomparable in taste and varieties. You will find many restaurants online that offer hundreds of halal dishes including Kebabs, Burgers, Bitlong to attract your taste buds. Canadian restaurants in Mississauga and Toronto are continuously adding a lot to the taste and variety. Knowing a food is halal certified confirms you its not haram or doubtful.
